Rufus Wainwright to Perform New Album at Livestream Concert – Rolling Stone

A stream will be available in the U.S. on All Arts ‘ Facebook page, premiering at 2 pm E.T. “The Paramour Session will show a completely different side of Unfollow the Rules ,” Wainwright said in a statement. “Acoustic, stripped back, sparser, but in a Rufus Wainwrightian sense of course. Good songs can survive in many different environments. I want my fans to have an opportunity to hear the music live when the album comes out. The only way we can

Destiny 2’s Women Creators Lead A New ‘Me Too’ Moment Exposing Gaming Community Abuse – Forbes

Destiny 2 Bungie It has been an eventful, horrifying couple of days as dozens of women, along with some men and non-binary individuals, have come forward to share dozens of stories about sexual harassment and abuse by dozens of notable men in the video game community, most of them streamers and content creators. There has been a clear pattern, a survivor posts a courageous revelation about past trauma, and the accused posts some sort of apology or denial, and in between is a very shocked and confused community. Some of these are brand new stories, some have been secrets that were only shared with small groups due to those involved not feeling comfortable coming forward. This is not the first time men in the video game industry have faced this sort of mass reckoning, but it’s important to recognize it every time this happens, and the stories here need to be heard. The spark that lit the fire this time were allegations made against popular Destiny streamer, SayNoToRage. A numbe

Dozens of Women in Gaming Speak Out About Sexism and Harassment – The New York Times

More than 70 people in the gaming industry, most of them women, have come forward with allegations of gender-based discrimination, harassment and sexual assault since Friday. They have shared their stories in statements posted to Twitter, YouTube, Twitch and the blogging platform TwitLonger. The outpouring of stories from competitive gamers and streamers, who broadcast their gameplay on platforms like Twitch for money, led to the resignation of the C.E.O. of a prominent talent management company for streamers and a moment of reflection for an industry that has often contended with sexism, bullying and allegations of abuse. Already, the response has been a far cry from Gamergate in 2014 , when women faced threats of death and sexual assault for critiquing the industry’s male-dominated, sexist culture. Now, some are optimistic that real change could come. Gamers began sharing their stories after a Twitter user who posts as Hollowtide tweeted about an unnamed “top” player of the on

Watch out for fake freelancers online, BBB warns Alberta businesses – CBC.ca

Online scammers have been targeting small business owners by posing as freelance graphic designers or software developers, collecting a down payment and then pocketing the money, according to the Better Business Bureau in Calgary.  The fake freelancers put ads on platforms such as Upwork and lure their victims using the photos and resumes of real professionals but offering lower rates.  “You decide to hire them and pay a deposit upfront,” reads the warning from the BBB. “Your new contractor seems to get to work. But weeks pass, and the project still isn’t finished. In fact, your freelancer stops responding to messages.” The bureau says there are several ways to avoid getting taken in such a scam: Watch out for “too good to be true” rates. Do some research and know the standard hourly rate for the position you want to hire. Do a video interview before hiring.  Find the freelancer on several platforms, such as LinkedIn or other social media. Report fake accounts: To report a s

Physics Alumnus Answers an Iconic Call to Adventure – Bethel University News

“To boldly go where no one has gone before.”  These are the voyages of Aaron Coe ’19, a physics and computer science alumnus who has already made valiant advances into the world of the unknown, despite graduating only a year ago. While he is more of a Star Wars fan, he certainly resonates with Star Trek’s iconic call to adventure—one that he hopes to pursue through a life dedicated to researching condensed matter physics. In 2019, Coe was awarded the Swedish Council of America’s (SCA) Glenn T. Seaborg Science Scholarship, which included a trip to Nobel Week to present his own research as well as absorb the research of some of the brightest minds in science. Coe is currently working toward a Ph.D. in condensed matter physics at Harvard. He recently received the 2020 National Defense Science and Engineering (NDSEG) Fellowship , which covers three years of full tuition and fees, a monthly stipend for cost of living, a travel budget, and health insurance. The award has a five to 10 p
